Cloudside Academy have been working with local community group ‘The Heart of Sandiacre’ to write and deliver letters to local residents to tackle loneliness.
The academy asked the children to write letters to local residents who live alone and may have very little company. After reading online about an initiative called ‘Letters in Isolation’, they decided to work together with ‘The Heart of Sandiacre’ and do something similar locally. They delivered their first batch of letters this week.
Such thoughtfulness and community spirit are exactly what is needed during these unprecedented times. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed, with a feature on ‘East Midlands Today’, the local evening news, in a segment on local heroes and people doing good in the community!
