Witham St. Hughs Academy in the Top 1%

12th March 2018

Pupils and staff at Witham St. Hughs Academy are celebrating a recent letter from the Rt Hon Nick Gibb MP (Minister of State for School Standards) – congratulating them on being officially recognised within the top 1% of primary schools in England for attainment in mathematics.

Mr. Gibb outlined how the 2017 assessments demonstrated “that 100 percent of pupils reached or exceeded the expected standard in mathematics at the end of Key Stage 2.” The letter continues; “We want to ensure that every child has the necessary fluency in mathematics to prepare them for a successful secondary education and beyond, and your school has provided this to all pupils.”

Headteacher, Amanda Griffiths, said; “We are delighted by these wonderful results and we couldn’t be more proud of our pupils, staff and supportive parents at Witham St Hughs Academy. The results are attributed to our bespoke mathematics curriculum alongside the high quality teaching that takes place daily. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our past pupils for their excellent attitude to learning.”
